What makes you come to that
What makes you come to that conclusion? Can you post the details? Did you see my blog posts about unrecognized cards?

Again, what ROM do you have? Could you put it in your signature line?
Have you read my page about checking card integrity at http://sdjf.esmartdesign.com/cards.html
Have you run "mount" and "df" with it inserted? What brand and size of card?

Thank you for your answers. I'll read your blog for more information.
Did any manuals come with
Did any manuals come with your Z? You could possible boot into the emergency system but I'm not sure you want to mess with that.
Do you know what a soft reset is?
If not, then be sure to get a copy of the sl5500 manual from Sharp's site. The link is probably on the console tutorial page.

Did you ever say what kind
Did you ever say what kind of SD card it is and model? Have you run fsck on it from your Linux box?
The card could just be a bad one, period. I know some counterfeits are impossible.
Searching on the brand at oesf would show if others had similar problems.
I've had good luck, out of the box, with Toshiba, Kingston, and Veritech SD cards, 500meg and 1gig sizes.

Something else I want to
Something else I want to mention is that the blog posts about my CF cards have some ideas in them that apply to SD cards as well. There are, of course, some differences, but there also are some basic principles that apply to both. Since the posts are about woes and adventures, I didn't put everything that I know about expansion cards in general in those blog posts, just the stuff that had to do with the particular issues that came up at the times I wrote the posts.
So, if you want to learn about problem solving with expansion cards and see real live examples, I would recommend reading both kinds of categories...just bear in mind that the precise commands will be different for the different media, but the principles are the same.

I tried another sdcard
I tried another sdcard (trancend) which worked fine :D. Maybe the other sdcard wasn't compatible. Or it was the fact that it was an minisdcard with an "adaptor".
