another thin client?

I know that thin client computing is very popular, but that's taking it too far.

My father's business used to sell hydrocarbon gas detectors (methane, propane etc). The big "JCB" diggers (backhoes I think they call 'em in USA) use hydrocarbon gases in their pressurised hydraulics, so the service companies and manufacturers used to buy these detectors to check for leaks. Occasionally they'd put them on the ground or on the tracks and forget, and then would send them back "for repair" having scraped them out of the tracks leaving an almost totally flat unrecognisable box!

I was reading somewhere about a guy who tried to get his laptop repaired after leaving it on the tread of some large piece of machinery and having it run over.

Still, I think that that's a bit too thin. I'd have to worry about cutting myself on it.
