windows inf files
would someone be able to tell me how I can extract an inf. file from a windows setup exe. I am looking for the ini file for the Kohjinsha wireless chip and the driver download consists of a setup excecutable. Thanks.

I've never tried to do this before, but you could try this app:
http://members.madasafish.com/~tyndall/create-installer.html
what if you trey this:
setup.exe -d c:\tempor
setup.exe /xor
setup.exe --helpto what switches are available.I'm just thinking out loud.

Thanks, Antikx that looks
Thanks, Antikx that looks like it will work. I'll try it as soon as my only remaining xp machine is available :-). I am trying to use ndiswrapper for the wireless chip in Ubuntu on my Kohjinsha.

Well, I couldn't get the program to work for me but it turns out that Winrar will unpack the setup.exe. NDISwrapper asks for an inf file but there are however no inf files available once unpacked. Thanks for your help.

Are you dual booting on this Machine...
If Yes, you can use Nautilus to browse your windows partition to try and find the file that your looking for.... if you know that the .inf normally sits in c:\windows\system32 for instance you can browse their to try and make sure it's there. If it is you can install the
ndisgtk_0.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb package found by following the links in the ubuntu forum.
This is a gui version of the ndiswrapper and allows you to browse just as I was mentioning so that you can point it to the .inf file on the windows partition.
The other thing you can do if you're not on a dual boot machine. is to do a google search for the exact .inf that your looking for. I was looking for some broadcom .inf files and found the ones that I needed that way too.
I hope that this helps.

A belated thank-you for the advice...
It has been some time since I have been back to this page and missed your advice, I apologize. I will give it a try and see how it goes. I am not dual booting at the moment but I do have an image of the windows xp installation for the Kohjinsha which I can browse and maybe extract the file from. Thanks again for the advice.
